I graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw State University) with a degree in New Media Arts at SPSU. I am an aspiring marketing designer with a passion for movies, and I hope to utilize these artistic skills to create unique promotions for the film industry one day. Advertising campaigns for film and television have always attracted me as they have the ability to tell stories in a short span of time. And storytelling has always been a major part of my life.
I've always been an avid reader, but my enthusiasm for reading really grew when I was introduced to the Harry Potter books in high school. Those books made me want to write, so I headed along the creative writing path in first round of college in 2005. The University of West Georgia's English program was (and still is) among the best, and I graduated with my B.A. in 2009 ready to write the next big young adult novel. However, as life would have it, things did not turn out the way I'd planned it to.
Not too long after graduation, I obtained my first internship at Peachtree Publishers in Atlanta as a school marketing intern. After a year of interning, I found that book publishing may not have been the career for me. Maybe I was supposed to be just writing and not working behind the scenes. Yet there was a huge problem.
I was not writing.
After years of telling people that this is what I wanted to do, I was finally honest with myself, and tried to focus on finding what career path made me happy again. Following my departure from Peachtree Publishers, and a little over a year of finding odd jobs here and there to pay the bills, I decided to go back to school. I entered SPSU in the summer of 2011, and after two missteps in finding a befitting major, I found New Media Arts. This major, and my love for Harry Potter and Batman (did I fail to mention that I love this Warner Bros. property too?), solidified my need to work within entertainment. Becoming a New Media Artist has given me the tools to finally tell types of stories that I've alway wanted to tell.
